DESTIN Maulding played a starring role as Oxford Saints claimed nine touchdowns in a dominant 54-14 victory over Swindon Storm in Southern Conference West.

Saints recorded their fifth win of the season to stay top of Division 2 and remain unbeaten, with James Walter scoring three touchdowns.

Quarterback Maulding opened the scoring for the visitors, running in from 11 yards out.

Sam Fielden kicked the extra point to make it 7-0.

Saints soon took control and raced into a 21-0 lead.

Ryan Kingshott ran the ball in untouched from four yards out for his first score of the season.

Shortly afterwards, running back Walter rampaged through the Swindon defense for a 31-yard touchdown.

The Saints then made a two-point conversion when Antonios Athanasiou crossed the line.

However, Swindon got on the scoreboard almost immediately.

The ball was kicked back to the hosts and Storm’s Toby Noakes found space, before out-running the Oxford defence to touch down. Luke McEnroe kicked the extra point.

But Saints ended the first quarter by adding another score, stretching their lead to 27-7 with Walter scoring again.

Oxford’s defense continued to stop Swindon in their tracks after the break, while they were clinical at the other end.

Tyson Blackstock attempted to cross into the endzone and after players from both sides dived on to the ball, the officials ruled Oxford’s Stuart Cribbes had secured the score to extend their lead to 33-7.

Saints attempted the two-point conversion, but were unsuccessful.

They moved further ahead when Maulding gave the ball to Walter, who broke through for a 67-yard touchdown. Fielden kicked the extra point to make it 40-7.

Swindon reduced the deficit when Lee Hobbis crossed and McEnroe landed the kick.

But Oxford ended the second period on top, making it 47-13 when Ali Galbraith collected Maulding’s touchdown pass. Fielden, once again, was accurate with the kick.

In the third quarter, Conor Day ran in for his first career touchdown.

Sam Armstrong then got on the end of Maulding’s pass to earn the two-point conversion and make it 54-14.

Saints then controlled the last quarter to seal victory.
