VALTTERI Bottas is hoping for a return to form at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, after a frustrating showing in Monaco.

The Finn, who races for the Grove-based Williams team, could only finish 12th last time out in the principality.

But he is hopeful a return to Montreal, where he finished third last year, will inspire him.

“Canada is one of my favourite races,” he said.

“We finished on the podium last year so I have some very good memories.

“Hopefully we can have a strong result.”

Teammate Felipe Massa is also looking for an improvement after finishing tenth in Monaco.

He said: “In the last two years we’ve done really well in Canada, so I really hope we can repeat that performance.

“I hope we can have a competitive race there and maybe even fight for the podium.”

Kevin Magnussen is another driver hopeful of a good showing in Montreal, with the installation of a new engine for this weekend.

The Dane has scored all six of Enstone-based Renault’s point this season and is looking forward to racing at what he describes as a “challenging” Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

He said: “It is basically a semi-street circuit where exit walls are very close in many of the corners.

“Some of the chicanes you can take a lot of curb and it is going to upset the car so that is why it is a little tricky, but it is fun as well.

“It has been a difficult year but hopefully with the new engine and a few ideas for the set up we can score points.”

Esteban Gutiérrez heads to Canada in the hope of scoring his first points of the season for Banbury-based Haas.

He said: “It’s been a challenging start to the season, but now we have some consistency and we can build a lot from that. I’ll keep pushing.”
