OXFORD City & County A won a thriller against Witney Mills in the third round of the Oxfordshire League Cup.

City scraped home by just one shot, 76-75, to earn themselves a place in the semifinal.

Witney’s Chris Weller had the chance to secure victory with the final wood of the night.

Despite moving the jack, the Mills man ended two down on the end, and saw his side edged out by the narrowest of margins.

Watlington sealed their first ever place in the last four, with a close victory over Banbury Central A.

Despite only losing on one rink, the winning margin was a meagre six shots.

They now face a Shiplake side who dispatched Headington B in their third round tie Champions Headington A visited Witney Town in the remaining fixture, and came away with victory on all four rinks.

Witney put up a good battle early on, but were eventually blown away by their rivals, who now face rivals City & County A.

The League Cup, sponsored by Bridle Insurance, returns after the end of the league season, with both semi-finals played at South Oxford on Thursday, August 18.
