CITY of Oxford youngster Callum Smart won gold at the Energy Standard International in Lignano, Italy.

Smart was one of three City swimmers in England’s 52-strong team for the event, which is designed to nurture potential Olympic swimmers.

Competing in the youth section, Smart won the 200m breaststroke in a personal best time of 2mins 19.94secs.

He followed that with bronzes in the 100m breaststroke, in which he set another pb, and as part of the 4x100m medley relay team.

In the junior section, City’s David Murphy recorded a pb to win silver in the 100m breaststroke.

He set an Oxfordshire & North Bucks open record of 2.16.60 to clinch bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

Murphy also came third in the 50m breaststroke and 4x100m medley relay.

The third City member competing at the event was 13-year-old Tasha Fenton.

Bicester Blue Fins’ Lottie Wynne-Jones, 12, was the youngest member of the team.

Competing in a combined age group with girls up to 18 months older, she finished sixth in both the 50m and 200m butterfly events.

She was also seventh in the 100m butterfly as England finished third overall.

CITY of Oxford won six golds at the ASA South East Regional Championships.

Emily Wood teamed up with Eleanor McNally, Kate Mills and Ellie Millington to win the 100m medley relay in 4mins 22.07secs.

Shannon Motha helped Mills, McNally and Millington to clinch the 4x100m freestyle, before Motha gained silver in the 50m backstroke.

City’s 14-16 200m freestyle team of Daniel Jenkins, Ewan Springett, Lewis Gilchrist and Luke Wilby took gold and repeated their success in the 100m freestyle.

Jenkins also won the 15 years 400m freestyle and claimed bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Springett won the 16-years 100m butterfly and took silver in the 100m freestyle and 200m butterfly.

Gilchrist (100m backstroke), Max Underwood (200m breaststroke) and the women’s 17 and over 4x200m freestyle relay team all added silvers, the latter in a county record.

CITY of Oxford’s Connor Bryan, representing Wales, won the 200m breaststroke B final at the Irish Longcourse Championships.
