Oxfordshire were named county of the year at the Badminton England national awards night.
After receiving the award, Calum Blair, chairman of the Oxfordshire Badminton Association, said: “ We have developed hugely over the last few years and supported clubs, schools and the community to grow the game and increase participation.
“We have seen enormous success with our senior and junior county teams plus individuals climbing rankings and medalling at national tournaments, plus of course our own tournaments are rated as second to none.”
Among the reasons given for Oxon receiving the honour were that they offered structured training for more than 140 junior players across six county squads and four performance centre squads, and that they organised and delivered eight tournaments, attracting more than 600 players.
