Martin Shepherd retained his Oxfordshire indoor men’s singles title when he defeated Chipping Norton clubmate David Leighfield 21-7 in the final on their home rink.
Leighfield, new to the club, having moved up from Wiltshire in 2015, struggled with his drawing weight against the consistent Shepherd.
Although Leighfield produced a late two and a three, Shepherd ended up a comfortable winner.
In the pairs final, Carterton’s Shane Cooper and Paul Sharman took control from the start against Sam Watts and Chris Earl (Oxford City & County) to win 23-9.
Paul McLeod, Lee Wilkinson and AJ Docherty, of Banbury Cross, won the triples crown, beating Carterton’s Bob Turley, Bob Wright and Tim Jupp 20-10 in the final
There was more success for Chipping Norton in the inaugural over 60s final, where last year’s singles runner-up John Cox hit a purple patch to defeat Terry Gripe (Oxford City & County) 21-13.
The over 60s pairs final was an all-Oxford City & County affair in which defending champions Alan Mead and Eric Hollinrake defeated Richard Green and Keith Mobley 24-13 with a late surge.
