ETHAN Bird smashed his personal best in the 200m breaststroke at the City of Oxford’s Easter development meet at Leys Pool.
The nine-year-old finished fastest in his year group and also set the quickest time in the 50m event.
He took second place in the 100m backstroke after being pipped to first place by nineyear-old Lachlan Middleton, who also finished second in the 50m breaststroke.
Eight-year-old Nalinratn Sophastienphong set personal bests for the fastest times in the 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly as she dominated her age group.
Nine-year-old Ella Joyce and Lily Brabbin, 10, made a clean sweep in their age groups, winning all three events – 200m individual medley, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
Rosie Hilton-Dew edged out Grace O’Gorman by just half a second to win the age 11 girls’ 200m individual medley.
William Healey was the fastest ten-year-old in the 200m breaststroke.
Meanwhile, Stan Pritchard, 12, won the 100m backstroke and 11-year-old Madeleine Watkins claimed victory in the girls’ 50m backstroke.
