JASON Plato claimed an unexpected points finish as his new Subaru Levorg made its Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship debut at Brands Hatch.

Little was expected of the new manufacturer heading into the opening three rounds of the season.

After qualifying 23rd, Plato was only able to make up two places in the first race.

But the Oxford driver fared better in race two, finishing a creditable 13th to collect three points.

He just missed out on adding to his tally in the final race of the weekend, coming home 16th.

Tom Ingram, Gordon Shedden and Adam Morgan came away from Kent with one victory apiece.

Plato’s team will be looking to build on their start later when the season continues at Donington Park on April 16-17.
