ASHTON dropped to third place in Gentworks Oxford & District League Division 1, losing 2-1 to Headington Conservative Club A.
Bob Hayward got the visitors off to a storming start with victory over Pete Fenn, but Shane Chambers levelled the scores, leaving Connor Jones to edge out Terry Chambers 200-194 in the decider.
Fieldside took advantage of Ashton’s slip to race into second place with a 2-1 win at Oxford Bowls Club, just one point behind leaders Littlemore RBL, who were surprisingly beaten 2-1 by Headington Bowls Club A.
