A MAGNIFICENT 100-point frame from John Williams helped Oxford Bowls Club A into the final of the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Sherlock Cup with a 4-2 win over Thame B.

With Bowls Club 3-2 ahead going into the final frame, Thame forfeited as the aggregate score was too great to make up, thanks in large part to Williams’ massive score.

Bowls Club will meet Cowley Workers B in the final after they saw off House Club A 4-2 in a narrow and tense match.

Needing to overcome a 36-point aggregate deficit in the final frame, Brian Field made a valiant effort, but Neil Kirby held his nerve to secure victory for Cowley.
