Oxfordshire's youth team returned to winning ways with a thrilling comeback 9-8 victory over Bucks at Bicester.
The hosts were set on their way by Andy Jones, who recorded a 2-0 success with an average of 23.30.
But Bucks hit back to edge the Under 18s match 5-4.
Oxon girls ended up losing all three games, which meant the county had to win all five men’s under 21 matches to claim victory.
Andrew Tompkins got things moving with a 3-1 win and 22.80 average.
He was followed by captain Robert Adnams, who cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win.
Man-of-the-match Chris Howse then won his game 3-1 with a superb 24.35, which included a maximum and nine ton-plus shots.
Jake McConway levelled the score with a 3-0 win, so everything depended on the last match.
Daniel Kirton stepped up to the plate and amid rising tension, got over the line with a 3-2 win much to Oxfordshire’s delight.
