Oxford City Stars maintained their impressive run with a 4-1 home win over Invicta Dynamos.

The success saw the hosts maintain fourth place in the English National League South Division 1 table with another convincing display.

Despite picking a couple of early penalties, Stars were always in control and in the 13th minute thought Nick Oliver had given them the lead, but the effort was disallowed by referee Anthony Decaux.

However, from the resulting face-off, the puck went back to Shane Moore, who fired Stars into the lead.

The second period was barely a few seconds old when Darren Elliott cut in from the right to double Stars’ lead.

Within two minutes Invicta made it 2-1 after Bailey Wootton finished after good work from Eriks Ozollapa.

But Boris Ruzicka soon restored the hosts’ two-goal margin with a well-taken goal.

Neither side was able to find another goal for the remainder of the second period and most of the third, until Mike Whillock hit No 4 late on to seal a deserved triumph.

The victory means Stars have now won four of their last five matches.
