Oxfordshire are still looking for their first win in this season's BDO Inter-Counties Championship after losing 20-16 away to Surrey at Worcester Park at the weekend The visitors never recovered after losing the opening Ladies’ B match 5-1.
A fabulous display by Joe Palmer, who averaged 30.06 helped Oxon Men’s B draw 6-6, while there was also a win for the returning Neal Russell.
Trailing 11-7 going into Sunday, Oxon fell further behind when their Ladies A team went down 4-2, with wins coming from world No 1 Deta Hedman (25.91) and Sandra Cox.
Oxon Men’s A needed to pull off a near miracle to snatch a victory.
Ade Larner (31.81) gave them a chance with an outstanding 4-0 win as Oxon took three of the first four legs.
Further victories from Sean Holley, Kevin Wilkins, Preben Krabben and Pete Hall gave the men a 7-5 win, but it was not enough to secure overall victory.
