JASON Plato is looking to reclaim the title advantage in the penultimate round of the MSA British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone this weekend.

The 47-year-old, from Oxford, trails Honda Yuasa Racing’s Gordon Shedden by six points after surrendering his 11-point lead at Rockingham in the previous round.

Plato’s lead was wiped out after crashing on the opening lap of his first race, finding himself 20 points adrift of Shedden after finishing seventh in the second.

But the Team BMR RCIB Insurance driver fought back brilliantly to win the final race of the weekend and keep his championship hopes alive.

OXFORD’S Matt Chapman is also racing at Silverstone and is eyeing a points haul in the Ginetta Junior Championship.

The 15-year-old is 17 points shy of the top ten.

He said: “I’m determined to get onto the podium."

“I’m sure we can be just as competitive at Silverstone as we were at Rockingham and Knockhill.”

CHIPPING Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw and teammate Craig Dolby finished eighth in the Blancpain Endurance Series finale at the Nurburgring.

Starting from third, the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 led in the hands of Dolby, but two safety-car interventions impacted their race.
