NORTH Oxford AS anglers faced a huge hazard from boats when competing for the Foster Cup on the Thames at Godstow.

They found themselves in the middle of a kayaking competition, with some canoes coming so close to the bank that they were inches away from the keep nets.

Steve Wildman overcame these handicaps to triumph with 7lb 2oz of mainly perch on worm.

Dave Scott-Picton came second, while Henry Clarke was third.

Four small barbel were also caught which bodes well for the future.

Chris Webb opted for the waggler with caster and was rewarded with a good net of roach as he won Littlemore AS’s W Henwood Cup with 10.4.0 on the Thames at Sandford, where 16 fished.

Webb, who also took the golden peg, was followed home by Steve Pitson with 6.6.0, while Pete Clarke was third with 5.10.0.

Clarke and Alan Campbell both went through in the Knockout Cup and will meet in the final next month.

Top Tackle standings: 1 P Clarke 75.5, 2 B Hutchings 70.5, 3 K Dolton 69, 4 V Adams 55, 5 A Campbell 54.5.

Graham Bradshaw drew an unfancied peg, but put together a winning weight of 6.13.0 of roach, perch and bleak in Marston AC FTB’s match with Masons AC, fished on the Thames at Folly.

Anthony Tomkins and Martin Page were second and third.

Kevin Jeacock made it three wins in a row when Beehive AS fished their FA & UEFA Cup finals on Frobury Farm.

Jeacock took the FA Cup with 55.5.0 of carp to pole and maggot.

In second place came Les Radford with 52.14.0 and third was Dave Wilson with 37.0.0.

The UEFA Cup went to Bob Alder.

Pete Oliver won Yarnton & District's Roach Cup on the Thames at Yarnton Meadow.

He also collected the golden peg and had the overall top weight of 4.5.0, which included 3.3.0 of roach caught at 14.5 metres on the pole.

Anthony Williams was second with 3.2.0 and Jason Jones was third.
