JASON Plato heads into the eighth round of the MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill this weekend top of the driver standings.

The 47-year-old, from Oxford, leads Team BMR teammate Colin Turkington by 16 points.

Double British champion Plato returned to the top of the leaderboard after two podium finishes in the last round at Snetterton.

Standings: 1 J Plato 230pts, 2 C Turkington 214, 3 G Shedden 198, 4 S Tordoff 191.

SWR team owner Sean Walkinshaw is backing his drivers to fight for victory at Snetterton in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.

Jordan Albert was victorious in the last round at Brand Hatch for the Chipping Norton-based team.

Walkinshaw said: “That’s the aim, to try and be in the fight for the podium and make a challenge for wins.”

ROBERT Taylor, from Witney, will compete at the Barcelona 24 hours race from September 4-6 in the Creventic Series.

He will drive for Northampton-based Zest Race Engineering.
