COMPETITORS from the Oxford School of Gymnastics were celebrating after collecting seven medals at the International Acrobatics Cup in Turin.

The Thame-based school collected four gold medals, two silvers and a bronze in Italy.

They secured an excellent one-two in the girls’ beginners’ trio, with Katie Martin, Georgia McDermott and Jasmine Hunt finishing second to clubmates Molly Kavanagh, Kirsten Richards and Esme Peal.

Matilda Marriot, Bella Ekerold and Natasha Hutchinson were fourth.

There was also gold medal success for Abi Woodliffe-Thomas, Aysha Hutter and Samara Chan in the girls’ youth trio – following their success at the National Acrobatic finals – with one of the top-scoring routines of the event.

In the technically demanding girls’ junior trio category, Sophie Newell and sisters Cossi and Elspeth Jackson, who had led the field from the start, added a third gold medal to the team’s tally.

Becky Evans, Gab Jackson and Heather Nixey also tasted success in Turin.

Despite being new to the girls’ senior category, the trio held their nerve to claim a fourth gold medal for Oxford.

In the women’s pairs there was a further medal double with Heidi Scholey and Lara Gunnell taking silver and Lucy Kavanagh and Ellie Roberts-Day securing the bronze.
