TEENAGER James Hall finished fifth on his rally debut on Dale Airfield in west Wales.

The 14-year-old from Witney, driving a Rally Preparation Services sponsored Citroen C1, with co-driver Simon Bradley, was one of nine juniors, aged from 14-17, to take part in 45 miles of competition on the disused airfield tracks.

From the start, Hall did not disappoint, setting times in line with the more experienced crews, despite still learning the limits of his car and his control skills.

That culminated in a fifthplaced finish on the final stage, just 13 seconds behind the fastest car.

This impressive first event has put the team in good spirits to build with the remainder of the season with the outlook of overall championship honours over the next two seasons.

Hall’s next event takes place at RAF Weeton in Yorkshire on June 7.
