BICESTER Men secured the highest league position in the club’s history by finishing third in the MBBO Division 1.
A 5-2 win over Old Merchant Taylors in Middlesex ensured they finished ahead of Amersham & Chalfont by three points.
It could have been sweeter for Bicester, as they finished just four points off top spot and promotion.
Jonny Reid got Bicester off the mark after Warren Pereira had put the hosts ahead.
Reid rounded the goalkeeper following Andy Brow’s through pass to equalise.
Adam Drewitt then superbly finished from top scorer Dave Sutcliffe’s firm cross and the latter made it 3-1 with a penalty flick.
After half-time, CJ Birtles and Reid got a goal each from short corners to close out the victory.
Pereira scored Old Merchant’s second.
