Fabian Whitbread and David Murphy celebrated a one-two in the men’s open 200m breaststroke as City of Oxford dominated the Oxfordshire and North Buckinghamshire County Championships in Aylesbury.

Whitbread touched home first in a county best time of 2mins 13.67secs, with Murphy, 16, taking silver in 2.17.59.

But the roles were reversed in the men’s open 50m breaststroke where Murphy beat Whitbread to take gold in 29.20, with Whitbread second in 29.39.

Callum Smart, 14, won bronze in a meet best time of 2.23.80, to give him gold in the junior county championship (16&under).

Emily Wood won silver in the women’s open championship in 1.11.40, a meet best time to take gold in the junior championship.

Natasha Fenton, 12, posted an impressive time of 1.14.73 in the heats and went on to land gold in her age group final.

Annie Sharp, 14, took bronze in the women’s open 200m backstroke in 2.17.35, which also gave her junior championship gold.

Emily Nisbet, 15, won gold in the girls’ junior 200m individual medley in 1.15.00 before combining with Annie Sharp, Emily Wood and Ellie Millington to win the girls’ 16 and under 400m medley relay in a new junior county mark of 4.21.97.

Chris Currie won gold in the 50m freestyle (29.30), 200m freestyle (2.16.18) and 100m backstroke (1.19.23) in the men’s multi-classification disability category.

Bicester Blue Fins’ Lottie Wynne-Jones, 12, won five gold medals at the same meet.

Her 50m butterfly victory in 29.68 seconds was the fastest time in the UK by a girl or boy her age and was also the best county meet time and club age group record.

The 12-year-old also set county best times for the 50m and 200m backstroke.

Kieran Bird, 16, was crowned county champion in the 200m butterfly and county junior champion in the 100m individual medley and 100m butterfly.

Oliver Inness, 14, won three gold, a silver and a bronze medals, winning the 100m and 200m butterfly, and 100m backstroke.

Freddie Ashley-Sparks took gold in the 13-year-old 100m butterfly and the 200m butterfly.
