PREBEN Krabben had to wing his way to an eighth Greene King ODDA Summer League singles title as he beat Terry Woods despite arriving with just five minutes to spare.

The Goodlake Arms man was forced to cut it fine at Oxford Sports & Social Club after flying in from Germany.

Perhaps benefitting from greater preparation time, Woods (Rose Hill Community Centre) took the first leg.

But Krabben fought back to level and took the crown in style – starting the decider with back-to-back 140s on his way to a 15-dart leg.

The large crowd were entertained by some fine darts throughout the finals night, as the ladies’ singles also went to the wire.

First blood went to Catherine Wheel’s Nadine Donson, but Paulette Guy, of Rileys Social Club, won the second leg.

An exciting final leg could have gone either way, but Guy held her nerve to claim the crucial double.

The ladies’ pairs final saw a more straightforward victory, in a meeting between two teams from Crown Inn Stadhampton.

Jo Adby and Gemma Royall took a 2-0 win for the A side, over Katie Moore and Carol Gasser from the B-team.

The men’s competition was won by father and son Mark and Rhys Kerry.

The latter, only 16, was the star in the Corner House team’s 2-1 success over Michael Slatter and Cliff Whistler, from Littlemore RFC.

Kidlington Green B took the honours in the men’s seven-a-side final against Section 1 winners Peachcroft Social Club.

Sean Holly got them off to a good start by taking the first match against Jason Turner.

Neil Lowe made it 1-1, before Kidlington took a grip on the final with wins from Neal Russell and Steve Wright.

Steven Wilkes kept Peachcroft’s hopes alive, but Mark Burns claimed the all-important victory to seal a 4-2 success.

The ladies’ competition was also clinched by the same scoreline, as Rileys Social Club saw off Crown Inn Stadhampton.

Denise Pape, Hazel Prowton, Megan Curtis and Guy all came out on top, while Royall and Sam Moore registered for Crown.
