Yarnton British Legion were crowned Greene King Oxford & District League Section 1 winners with a 2-1 victory at newly-crowned Premier Section champions Six Bells C Kidlington, writes ANDY BEAL.

They picked up the point needed to clinch the title with a 29-28 success in the opening leg.

Yarnton also won the second leg 31-22, before Six Bells took the last 27-21.

Three Pigeons’ Kevin Giles (4-5-5) clanged off 14 dolls in a 2-1 win at Black Prince to become the league’s top scorer this season with 247.

His tally also made him the joint third-highest doll scorer in the league’s history.

Only Kevin Baker, with 256 in 2002, and Monty Greenaway, with 254 in 1978, have bettered it, while his total matches Ivor Clarke, who hit 247 in 1997.

Neil Lyon (5-5-5) outpointed teammate Giles in the finale with 15 dolls, while Darren Grant bagged himself a six in his 14-doll haul for Black Prince.

Woodman clinched the Section 2 title with a 3-0 win at Three Horseshoes A.

Charlie Buckingham (4-5-4) led the way with 13 dolls.

Queens Head are Section 4 champions after a nail-biting finish.

Their 2-1 win at Vikings Sports C was good enough as title rivals Masons B were only able to match their score at Donnington Club A.

Seacourt Bridge took the Section 6 title with a 3-0 win at Chandos Arms.

Kings Arms A Kidlington are Section 9 champions, with Kidlington Football Club winning Section 10.
