THERE were a hat-trick of shocks in the ladies’ Greene King ODDA seven-a-side cup first round ties.

Premier league leaders Florence Park Community Centre A lost 4-3 away to Section 2’s Berinsfield Community Centre.

The visitors came from 2-0 down to lead 3-2, but Berinsfield finished on top thanks to wins from Nina Chewings and Mel Jones.

Another top flight outfit, Black Swan, were stunned as they lost 4-2 at Catherine Wheel D, of Section 3. The shocks were completed by Section 1 leaders New Inn losing 4-3 away to Black Horse A from Section 4.

Other ties went to form, with Section 1’s Vikings Social Club too strong for Red Lion Cassington (Section 3) as they emerged 5-2 victors.

Section two leaders Crown Inn Stadhampton marched on after a 4-2 win at George Inn A (Section 5).

In the men’s competition, Section 8 side Littlemore Rugby Club B booked their place in the quarter-finals at the expense of Section 3’s Village Inn, who lost 4-2.

Derek Lucas held his nerve in the final match to see Marlborough Club, from Section 1, squeeze though with a 4-3 success at Section 2 side Kidlington Green Social Club A.

Gary Pinches hit a 161 finish for Garsington Cricket Club (Section 5), but it was in vain as they lost 5-2 at home to Prince Of Wales A (Section 6).

Other men’s winners were Donnington Community Centre, Chequers Inn B and Peachcroft Social Club.

Entry forms for the ODDA Winter League have been sent out.
