TABLE TENNIS: Vikings' perfect record is over

VIKINGS D have extended their lead in Division 2 of the Oxford & District Association – but lost their unbeaten record in doing so.

The table-toppers had three matches in seven days, and while two victories sees them 14 points clear, they no longer boast their 100 per cent record.

A 7-3 win over Gladiators A, with a Bill Mason maximum, was followed by a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Begbroke.

Markus Wagner won all three matches for Vikings, but two victories apiece for Janet Brown and Paul Humphrey gave Begbroke hope.

They completed the shock win thanks to successes for Ian Gordon and in the doubles.

However, it was business as usual for Vikings against Forum E with a 10-0 victory.

In Division 1, Forum A stay third after beating teammates Forum B 8-2, while Bicester A made light work of British Rail, romping to a 10-0 victory.

Forum F are still flying at the top of Division 3, this week beating Gladiators B 10-0.

And in Division 4, St James are once again the table-toppers, following two wins over Forum K, 10-0 and 7-3.
