Karl Bushell took the Division 1 title at the Oxford & District Table Tennis Association’s divisional championships with a 3-1 victory against Jingyu Sun at Kidlington Forum’s new facilities in Crown Road.

Bushell established a good lead in the opener, but Sun levelled at 9-9 and then missed a sitter to gift Bushell the game.

Sun hit back to win the next game 11-7 and led 6-2 in the third, only for Bushell to win the next nine out of the next possible 10 points to win 11-7.

After a tense start, Bushell pulled ahead before closing the game out 11-7.

Sun made the final with a 3-1 win against Craige Campbell.

With the players locked at 1-1, Sun turned up the pressure to clinch victory.

Bushell made the final after battling to a 3-2 win against Garry Hayward.

Hayward pegged him back to 2-2, before Bushell won the decider 11-6 with relative ease.

Eamonn Deeley won the Division 2 final, beating Paul Borrowdale 3-1.

Earlier, Deeley proved too strong for Mike Aistrop, and Borrowdale beat Kevin Giles.

In Division 3, Lorne Lonie had to go the full distance to beat Glen Bishop in the semis, then beat Thomas Bowden in straight sets in the final.

Bowden defeated Joe Marrs in the semis.
