Holders Shipton-under-Wychwood won the Oxfordshire Over 40s Twenty20 Cup for a third year in a row after beating Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts by 16 runs in the final.

Winning the toss and electing to bat on their home turf, Shipton were in trouble at 21-4 as Andy Haines and Ian Gregor took two wickets each.

Chris Panter (24) and Anthony Prior-Wandesforde (50 not out) came to the rescue with a partnership of 74.

Simon Dickens hit two sixes over the pavilion in the final over to take Shipton to a competitive score of 118-5.

In reply, Bletchingdon were always up with the run rate until the 16th over when two unnecessary run outs broke the middle order and exposed the tail.

Shaun Miller wrapped it up with two wickets in the final over after Paul Hemming and Dickens also bagged braces.

The final was also umpire Norman Stevens’ last match before retiring after 30 years’ service in Oxfordshire.
