BRADLEY Smith narrowly missed out on his first MotoGP points of the season when finishing 16th in the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, from Forest Hill, was eight seconds behind Alvaro Bautista who rounded out the top 15.

Smith qualified 15th and was running inside the points with ten laps remaining.

But he dropped back towards the end of the race as he failed to pick up a point for the third round in a row.

World champion Marc Marquez triumphed, making it ten straight victories in America, from Maverick Viñales and Andrea Iannone.

The next round is in Jerez, Spain, on Sunday, May 6.
