IT’S good to be back at home again this afternoon when we welcome Doncaster Rovers to Grenoble Road.

We have had excellent away wins at Plymouth and Gillingham plus a spirited draw at Southend since we last played a home game on a Saturday, so we feel we are in decent form and looking forward to starting a busy run of matches.

The match I didn’t mention was the midweek home game against Blackburn where we gave ourselves too much to do after a very slow start.

We fought hard and showed character, but sadly it was too little too late.

We have been guilty of falling behind early in too many games despite preparing properly and always being fully focused.

We have the quality to win games, but obviously that becomes easier if you don’t give the opposition a head start.

Sometimes you need to be patient – and we are establishing a fine brand of attacking football which will create chances.

Doncaster will try to nullify us and we’ll have to be particularly alert to make sure we don’t give anything away by making basic mistakes, remain focused and solid and are clinical up front.

I look forward to seeing us execute our plan with the support of our fans.

We had good news this week with Ivo Pekalski stepping up his training.

Ivo had very bad luck to damage knee ligaments in his first few days with us and after his initial treatment we thought the best thing to do was to allow him to go home to Sweden for a while.

He needed to be immobile for a few weeks and sitting around watching other players train for a long period can be a little tough.

He flies tomorrow and will be back with us on Tuesday.

He is an excellent professional and we have been in touch all the time, and right now he is back out on the pitches and doing a little ball work.

That is great to see and gives us a great base to build from when he comes back to us.

It will not be an immediate return to full training, but there are plenty of encouraging signs.

Provided things go well, then it will be like having a new signing – a full international player as well – available in the new year.

ONE of the highly-encouraging signs this week was a cameo appearance for Malachi Napa at Gillingham.

Malachi is an exciting young player who loves to take people on and has pace and a lot of skill.

He did very well on his debut and I would like to encourage people to come along to Court Place Farm on Wednesday next week to see the next batch of talented youngsters play for us in the FA Youth Cup.

They take on Dagenham and Redbridge and if the last round is anything to go by then it should be a really entertaining game to watch.

Good luck to Leon Blackmore Such and his young players.
