TWO young fighters, from Blackbird Leys ABC, are eyeing future glory after reaching the quarter-finals of the Development Championships for the first time.
Representing the Home Counties, Dane Simmonds and Keenan Dallimore saw off their Eastern Counties opponents with ease at the Essex County Cricket Club in Chelmsford.
Simmonds, boxing in the under 75kg category, saw off the challenge of Jake Wright, from Norwich Lads ABC.
He dominated the fight with a powerful display from the first round continuously catching his southpaw opponent and going on to win all three rounds for a unanimous decision.
His clubmate Dallimore reached the last eight of the under 69kg class.
Taking on Anton Baldock, of St Osyth BC, the 23-year-old was at his best with a great display of fast combinations.
He outboxed his opponent in all three rounds to win a unanimous decision in one of the best bouts of the night.
Both fighters will compete at Camberley this Sunday, in a bid to reach the regional semi-finals, which will take place at Worcester the following weekend.
