MATT Williams is confident Chinnor will bounce back after what he called “an unacceptable performance” at Redruth last week.

The director of rugby saw his side crash to a 29-12 defeat in Cornwall to continue a poor run that has seen them pick up just two wins from their last seven games in National League 2 South.

“Last week we were not good enough,” proclaimed Williams. “But the boys know this and I expect a response at Barnstaple on Saturday.

Chinnor have slipped from first to third in their poor run.

“We’re no longer favourites to win this league, but it’s very tight and still in our own hands,” added Williams.

Injuries to full back Steve Castle and hooker Koree Britton have forced Williams to make changes.

Kieran Goss switches to full back, with Henry Lamont coming in on the wing, while Jamie Townsend plays at hooker.

Chinnor welcome back CJ Osazuwa to the second row.

Henley Hawks travel to bottom side Exmouth, bidding to build on last week’s victory over Redingensians.

They have picked up seven points from their last two games and will hope to exploit a defence which has conceded more than 600 points this season.

Head coach Pete Davies makes one change, with Alan Awcock returning at outside centre in place of the injured Connor Hayhow (hamstring).

In South West 1 East, Oxford Harlequins makes four changes – two of them positional – for the trip to Reading Abbey.

Ramez Farahani steps up to loose head and Matt Edney switches to hooker. Noel O’Brian moves to scrum half, with Huw Dimond returning to fly half.

Banbury, on a seven-match unbeaten run, face a tough test at home to leaders Maidenhead.

Witney, who are at home to bottom side Reading, will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 21-16 defeat they suffered against them in September.

Grove, face Chippenham, who beat Witney 31-3 last week.

Wheatley, who host Farnham Royal in the BB&O Championship, are bidding to record a double over the Bucks club.

They are without second row Jack Smith (dislocated shoulder), while Dan Rule and Joe Hobdell are doubts.
