BERINSFIELD maintained their charge at the top of North Berks League Division 1 with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Wallingford Town, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

The league leaders continued their 100 per cent record thanks to goals from Shane Harris, Max Palmer and Sam Whiteley.

Long Wittenham Athletic moved into third place with a 3-1 win at Lambourn Sports.

Matthew Saunders netted twice alongside a Michael Farrell effort, with Aidan Maycock replying for the hosts from the penalty spot.

East Hendred maintained their unbeaten record with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Kintbury Rangers.

Ben Eltham and Liam Eltham grabbed Hendred’s goals, with Shaun Thorp and Bradley Pagliaroll on target for the hosts.

North Oxford moved up to second in Division 2 with a 3-2 home victory over ten-man Dorchester.

Striker Ashea Townsend was dismissed for the visitors after 25 minutes for a dangerous tackle and the home side duly took advantage, with goals from Aaron Andrews, Steve Andrews and Aaron Williams.

Billy Warner and Cameron Patterson hit Dorchester’s goals.

Drayton came from behind to win 3-2 at home to Berinsfield Res in Division 4.

Jon Welch struck twice for the visitors, but Drayton struck back with goals from Kieron Hughes and Lewis Collacot, as well as an own goal.

Andy Munns struck twice as Stanford in the Vales Res picked up their first points of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lambourn Sports Res.

Tyrun Mayall also scored to help lift Stanford off the foot of the table.

In the first round of the North Berks Cup, Benson Lions overcame Division 3 leaders Watlington Town 3-2 – just a week after their 1-0 league defeat.

Michael Gardner and Adam Bettis netted for the visitors in normal time, with Connor Blayachi grabbing both Watlington goals.

But Chris Parker was on hand to net the extra-time winner to send Lions through to the second round.
