OXFORD City Stars head into this weekend’s double header in a buoyant mood after recording their first National League South Division 1 victory of the season.

An 8-5 victory over Streatham Redhawks six days ago helped Stars climb to third in the table after two games.

They also drew 3-3 with Bracknell Hornets in the National League South 1 BBO Cup and have another double header on their hands this weekend.

Stars travel to London Raiders in the league this evening, before hosting Milton Keynes Thunder in the cup tomorrow.

But they will be without injured duo Andy Cox and Joe Oliver, who are expected to be sidelined for a couple of months.

Defenceman Matt Jordan, though, will be taking to the ice and is set for his Stars debut.

Raiders have only played one match so far this season and are yet to taste victory, falling to a 4-2 defeat against Invicta Dynamos.

But cup opponents Milton Keynes have enjoyed a stronger start to the campaign.

They held league champions Chelmsford Chieftains to a 4-4 draw and tied 2-2 with Bracknell Hornets last weekend.
