EDDIE Pepperell made an encouraging start to golf's prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The Abingdon ace shot a one-under-par 71in a round containing three birdies and two bogeys.
The Frilford Heath professional was one of the first players to tee off, and Pepperell made a poor opening, dropping a shot at the first.
However, he hit back with birdies at the par-five fourth and par-four seventh to make the turn one-under.
Although Pepperell slipped back to level par after a four at the 14th, the 25-year-old's birdie three two holes later ensured he ended his round under par.
