GREAT & Little Tew captain Andy Harris is hoping his side’s first ever Division 1 victory can provide a big confidence booster.

Tew take on Slough in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League tomorrow, after beating Reading by four wickets last Saturday.

Harris, whose side are in their maiden campaign in the top flight, is now hoping to keep on improving.

And he was keen to praise Joe Thomas and Lawrence Brock, who took three wickets each last week.

He said: “Joe Thomas bowled particularly well, he has been one of our top bowlers in the last couple of years.

“Lawrence had a chance and made the most of it, so I am very pleased with those two players.”

Harris admitted it was important to beat the likes of Reading, who he expects to be one of Tew’s rivals for mid-table safety.

He said: “It was a game we had targeted.

“We wanted to try and get some points especially against a team who will be around us at the end of the season.

“It was important to get a win so early.”

Slough have yet to record a victory this year, but Harris is expecting a competitive fixture.

He added: “Slough are a funny team, they will either score 350 or 120, but we’re just worrying about what we do.”

Tew make two changes with Robbie Shurmer and Dane Moreton replacing injured duo Jordan Garrett and Matt Woods.

Banbury set the early pace at the top of the table and will be looking for a third straight win when they travel to Burnham.
