ALICE Hopkins and Amy Herrington starred for Oxfordshire at the Southern Inter-County Championships at the Allianz Park in Hendon.

Radley AC’s Hopkins won the Under 20 long lump, setting a personal best of 5.68m on her second attempt.

Herrington, who competes for Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow, took first place in the hammer, with a throw of 49.09m.

Meanwhile, Banbury Harriers’ Emily Thompson came second in the 800m.

Oxford City AC’s Jade O’Dowda was third in the high jump with 1.65m and Luisa Chantler Edmond (Radley) fourth in the shot after a throw of 10.69m.

In the U15 girls, Nancie Bowley (Reading AC) took second in the 1,500m.

And in the throws, Petrina Chantler Edmond and Ella Lovibond (both Radley) came fourth in the shot and hammer respectively.

In the boys’ competition, White Horse Harriers’ Ben Claridge claimed third in the U20 400m in 49.20.

His clubmate Zack Smith was fifth in the 100m.

Tim Stephens, of Oxford City, was also fifth in the 110m hurdles, while Will Swift (Radley) came ninth in the triple jump.

In the field, Michael Dawes (Banbury) was eighth in the discus and seventh in the hammer.
