OXFORD lost top spot despite fighting back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at home to Maidenhead in South League Regional 1 on Saturday.

Three first-half errors cost Oxford dear on a rain-sodden pitch.

Maidenhead opened the scoring with a breakaway goal before Matt McKeown equalised from a short corner.

The hosts scored twice more before the interval, the second from a penalty flick after a deflected shot hit Matt Fisher on the leg.

Oxford regrouped and dominated the second half. McKeown scored his second from a short corner, before Jonny Campbell’s brave drive at the far post made it 3-3.

Oxford Hawks 2nd went top with a 2-1 victory over Oxford 2nd thanks to a brace from Matt Janes.

The visitors took a 2-0 first-half lead and added a third after the break.

The hosts came from behind to make it 3-2 at half-time thanks to two goals in a minute from Luke Smith and an effort from Stu Locke.

Amersham equalised twice in the second half, but two goals from Dave Sutcliffe saw Bicester home.
