CARLTON Morris has ended his loan at Oxford United and returned to parent club Norwich City.

The 18-year-old was due to stay with the U's until the end of December, but made the decision due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

Morris, who had no senior experience before joining in the summer, started the first seven games of the campaign, scoring in the 2-1 Capital One Cup win at Bristol City.

But he has played less than an hour of football since August, in the form of three substitute appearances.

U's boss Michael Appleton said: "I understand the decision, we’ve got a very good working relationship with Norwich and it was a very healthy conversation.

"Don’t get me wrong, I’d still have liked to keep him around because I think he could still bring something to the table for us."
