CORNER House secured the runners up spot in Section 2 of the Men’s Summer League with a 7-2 win at George Bar C.

Rhys Kerry gave the visitors a good start when he beat Simon Ballard (180) in the opening game.

George levelled at 1-1 when Martin Atherton defeated James Harding, but Corner House raced into a 4-1 lead with wins from Trevor Ballard, Richard Reveley and Mark Kerry.

The hosts reduced the arrears to 4-2 after Keith Ballard beat Mick O’Leary before a 3-0 pairs success saw the visitors home.

New Club are the Section 7 champions after the closest of title races.

Three teams – New Club, Golden Ball, and Northway Community Centre – all finished on 40 points, but New Club came out on top having won six matches.

The other two won five each and will play off for second place.

Littlemore Rugby Club B are the Section 8 champions, despite suffering their only defeat of the season when going down 5-4 to runners-up Butchers Arms.

With just one game to play, unbeaten Florence Park Community Centre A need two points to claim the Ladies’ Premier Section title.

Rileys Social Club are assured of at least the runners-up spot.

Meanwhile, George Bar A are the Section 5 champions, The Section 6 top-of-the-table clash saw leaders Cowley Conservative Club A suffer a surprise 6-3 defeat at home to second placed Littlemore British Legion.

The visitors turned on the style, but their success just failed to knock the Conservatives off top spot.

With one game to play, the Conservative Club have a five-point lead over George Bar B, who suffered an amazing 8-1 defeat at basement team Six Bells B.

All league fixtures must be completed by tomorrow (Wednesday), as no games after this date will count.
