Chris Webb won the opening round of Littlemore AC’s Spring League fished by 14 anglers at Panshill.

Alternating between pellet and maggot, he caught carp to 3lb on the long pole for 55lb 9oz.

Doug Robinson used the same tactics for 42.9.0 and second, followed by Brian Hutchings, who used long and short pole with maggot for 36.6.0.

Beehive AC fished their Beehive Cup first leg at Frobury Farm, near Newbury, where a lot of the carp were shoaled up in the reed beds, which produced the top three placings.

Kevin Jeacock triumphed with 86.10.0 of carp to pole with meat and pellet on the hook.

Not far behind was Chris Dingle with 81.9.0 to pole and pellet, followed by Dan Hopgood with 43.8.0 to pole and maggot.

Just over 570lb hit the scales from the 16 fishing.

Two chunky chub of around the 4lb mark gave Ian Fisher victory in the Kid-lington AS Open on the Oxford Canal at Grovelands.

He supplemented the chub, which were caught on bread, with a few bits for a winning weight of 8.14.0.

Other placings: 2 R Brown 5.11.0 (mixed bag; bread), 3 W Rudman 2.11.0 (bits; red maggot).

Tony Wright, who runs the Predator tackle shop in Kidlington, showed the rest how to do it in the second Predator Spring League fixture at Butler’s Hill.

He topped the 15-strong field with 44.0.0 of carp on the long pole with corn and maggot.

Andy Benwell (FTB) was second with 33.0.0 on pole, pellet and maggot, while there was a real battle for third with Kieran Thorne (32.0.0) pipping Matt Ryan (Predator), who was just one fish behind with 31.4.0.

Peter Jones was a clear winner of the Anne Malone Memorial in aid of Sobell House, fished by 15 anglers at Stable Lake.

His 71.0.0 of carp on pole with maggot and meat, was well clear of second-placed Mick Merry with 47.7.0 and Frank Malone, who had 41.7.0.
