Most of the game took place in the Comet's half of the pitch, but resolute defending by the home team didn't make it easy for the opposition. However, Harwell and Hendred applied non-stop pressure, and there was a succession of outstanding crosses into the Comet's penalty area, which the away team were unlucky not to convert into goals. The pressure paid off eventually when, midway through the first half, Calum Sykes dribbled off his wing, went past a couple of defenders, and struck a crafty low shot from a tight angle which beat the Comet's goalkeeper at the near post. In the 2nd half, it was much the same story of non-stop pressure, but Comets held out until Thomas Cooper converted a chance midway through the 2nd half to put the result beyond doubt. In the final few minutes of the match, there were a couple of great saves by Comet's keeper Manu Atallah to keep the score respectable. Well done to Harwell & Hendred for a deserved victory, and to Summertown Comets for a hard-working team effort that kept going right to the final whistle.
