Hanney Youth 5 Abingdon Youth 0 Hanney kicked off against Abingdon who were brave enough to go out with only ten men, and to their credit performed admirably and showed a great team spirit. That said Hanney missed chance after chance and should have been well out of sight by half time but poor finishing and a great performance by the Abingdon keeper meant that they went into the break only 1-0 down after a superb individual goal again by Philip Webster.

A great game for the supporters, both teams battled hard and both sets of defenders did excellent work resulting in not much work for either goalkeeper. The first half ended 0-0. The second half was much the same both teams trying hard but no one managing to score. An excellent cross from Botley’s Daniel O’Dwyer saw Daniel Wilcox find the back of the net only to be ruled offside. Then a great save by Botley’s Simon Price denied Milton. The score remained 0-0 at the final whistle, which was a fair result for both teams. A great game to watch, and an excellent performance from both sets of players.

The first half saw Summertown pile the pressure on the Botley defence and goalkeeper, keen to score the first goal, but excellent work from the defence and keeper kept them at bay and the first half remained goalless. The second half saw Botley pick up there game and reverse the pressure on the Summertown defence, which was broke down when Ryan Megarity ran on to a through ball to get the first goal. Summertown carried on battling but more pressure from Botley saw Daniel O’Dwyer pick up the ball in midfield to carry it through to score Botley’s second goal. Not deterred Summertown pulled one back through Luke Middleton. This was a game of two halves Summertown the first and Botley the second, but seeing Botley take the points.
