Didcot 'B' 2 - 7 Abingdon Youth


Abingdon were away to Didcot and the first 10 minutes the game was congested in the middle of the park.

Abingdon wasted a few chances with the Didcot keeper saving well and some woeful finishing by Abingdon.

Mat Pearson scored Abingdon's first when he chased after a through ball and cooly slotted past the Didcot Keeper. Abingdon were still celerbrating when Didcot playing some one touch football released the ball wide to Joe Bowers on the Didcot right and he roasted the left back and jinked his way into the box and laid a ball to Ben Maidment who smashed it in from 6 yards.

Abingdon then stepped up another gear and went 2-1 up with Luke Meehan beating the keeper to the ball and scoring into an empty net.Mat Pearson made it 3-1 after he beat the offside trap and beat the keeper at the near post.

Didcot still looked dangerous on the break and almost scored but after a through ball to Max Shepherd from George Woodley, Max Shepherd set up Daniel Jacob's first goal for the club with a first time shot that looped over the keeper from 12 yards out.Luke Meehan got his second after a goal mouth scramble to finish the half 5-1 up.

Second half was a tight affair with the ref having a superb game and letting play go on, Abingdon were camped in the Didcot half and had numerous shots that were well wide of the goal or some excellent saves from the Didcot keeper. Max Shepherd got his deserved goal after he beat 2 players and hit a good shot into the corner of the goal.Dustin Addison then fed George Woodley with a slick pass he jinked his way past 3 defenders and his shot got a deflection sending the keeper the wrong way, Abingdon now 7-1 up.

In the dying minutes Joe Bowers beat 4 players and got his well deserved goal when he beat the Abingdon keeper from a tight angle to make the score 7-2.

Well played both teams and the ref, final score Didcot 'B'2-7 Abingdon Youth.
