Wantage Concords became C league champions today with two games to spare after a hard fought win against a strong Quarry side .
Wantage took the lead with a well taken goal from David Robins who quickly followed it up with his second to give Wantage a 2 goal advantage before Quarry hit back with a strike from Alex Epelle.
The game was now end to end stuff with Wantage nerves beginning to show this was settled though by a fine curling shot from Ryan Higgs that found the top corner of the net.
At this stage Wantage thought they were home and dry before Harry Jones fired home for Quarry to make the scores 3-2 at halftime .
Both sides started the second half strongly with the Wantage midfield starting to put some nice passing moves together and Quarry strongly testing the Wantage defence.
Several goalmouth scrambles followed before Josh Joyce turned and fired home to give Wantage a two goal cushion after a good spell of pressure .
Quarry still fought for every ball and the game was still well balanced before Will Fletcher smashed home Wantages fifth to wrap up the points and see Wantage crowned C-League champions.
Well played to all the teams in this league in what has been a hard fought contest all the way through and some really good football played .
