This cup quarter final turned out to be a very entertaining game with both sides playing excellent football. The fact that the scoreline was still 0-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining was down to the performances of both goalkeepers who made some fantastic saves none better than Kidlington's Will Spackman who brilliantly tipped over a tremendous long range effort, this save with only 10 mins remaining seemed to spur Kidlington on and they took the lead with a great individual goal by Ciaran Murphy, who collected the ball some 20 metres from goal and beat two defenders before cooly sliding the ball past the advancing keeper. Oxford Blackbirds response was immediate forcing several corners and were very unlucky not to equalise.
Kidlington added their second with virtually the last action of the game when Conor Allsop reacted first to a low cross and tapped home to secure Kidlington's place in the semi-finals. Both teams should be commended for the sporting manner in which the game was played, which can certainly be attributed to the fact that the game was excellently refereed.
