EDWARD Lagden scored a five-timer for Wantage Town in the Under 12 C League, but still found himself on the losing side as they went down 6-5 at Kennington Athletic Green.

Oscar Griffiths netted a hat-trick for the hosts, while Luke Norris scored twice and Jay Orum also found the net to give Kennington a winning start to their spring campaign.

Barton United came out on top in a high-scoring game at Kidlington Youth Colts, the visitors winning 8-5 thanks to a hat-trick from Harry Wheeldon, a brace from Paulo Rosario and goals from George Kirk, Mwansa Chikanger and Callum Jamieson.

Jago Edwards netted three times for the hosts, alongside goals from Owen O’Malley and Owen Fellows, but it wasn’t enough as Barton slipped to their first defeat of the spring season.

A hat-trick from Kyreece Martei fired Oxford Blackbirds into the quarter-finals of the Under 14 Knockout Cup as they beat Hinksey Park 3-1.

The visitors took an early lead when Denzel Atito latched on to a through-ball and slotted home.

But Blackbirds hit back thanks to a sensational display from Martei, equalising shortly before the break and striking twice more in the second half to set up a quarter-final tie away to Cumnor Minors.

C League Minors overcame B League side Rotherfield Vipers 1-0 to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Harry Tilling’s second-half goal was all that separated the two sides as Cumnor upset the odds.

Harry Voice struck four times as Cholsey Bluebirds beat Steventon 7-0 to go top of the Under 15 C League.

Ed Woodward scored a brace, while Sam Rowlands was also on target for the new league leaders.
