Summertown Supernovae hosted Barton United for a good day of football. Although a very physical Barton United side fought hard for every challenge on the ball, the Supernovae were able to hold their ground, retain possession for much of the match, and capitalise on several scoring opportunities.
The Supernovae managed to be first on the score sheet with two goals in the early minutes of the half. But Barton United made some brilliant challenges on the Supernovae #1, who was able to absorb each attempt. The Supernovae defence also did a brilliant job of holding their line and turning Barton United attacks into Supernovae counter attacks--two of which resulted in goals.
In the second half, the Supernovae came out strong again with two early goals, but the most impressive play was Summertown's ability to connect with open teammates instead of simply running into tackles. Also impressive was Barton United's determination to fight for every ball to the final whistle, and it finally paid off with a brilliant goal from the left wing. Summertown ended the match with one final goal. Summertown Supernovae 7. Barton United 1.
