Benson United Pumas 6 v 3 St Edmunds

A great match which truly was a game of two halves. St Edmunds started the game brightly and dominated the early exchanges, resulting with a goal from Parum Kleir, who danced through the Puma's defence and slotted home. Although Benson tried, St Edmunds would not let them get settled and took control for the rest of the first half, ending it with a thunderbolt from Jack Prior to put the visitors two nil up at the break.

St Edmunds began the second half but found themselves picking the ball out of the net within eleven seconds, after Harrison Wraight latched onto a through-ball from Archie Simpson. Minutes later Benson found themselves level after another ball from Simpson found Wraight who slotted home. Benson continued to press the opposition and Oscar Taylor scored a brace; the first a great strike from the left and the second a mazy run through the defence to place past the visiting keeper. With the score 4-2 to the home side, Benson stepped it up a gear and won a penalty after a handball in the box. Ben Rodriguez stepped up to smash the ball into the back of the net and it was 5-2 with six minutes to play. A great tackle and pass from Charlie Beaumont freed Oscar Taylor down the left, who crossed for Harrison Wraight to claim his second hat-trick in as many weeks and put the home side 6-2 up. With seconds left on the clock, St Edmunds scored a great goal through Jack Hickman to end the game 6-3.

A thoroughly enjoyable match, played in the true spirit of junior football. Well done to both teams.
