Thomas scores a Really Useful hat trick.
Thomas Aldred scored three times as Didcot pulled away in the latter stages to register an ultimately comfortable victory over Kidlington. Jack Thompson contributed a brace, while Gus Bowers and Thomas Legge chipped in with one apiece. Visiting skipper Callum Rolfe netted Kidlington’s only reply.
The strong home team were on a roll following a comfortable victory on the opening day of the season, whilst Kidlington had seen their first fixture cancelled by the withdrawal of Crowmarsh from the league. Didcot's extra sharpness told, as they won most of the 50/50s in midfield as well as possessing too much pace in attack for the visiting defence.
With Kidlington keeper Ben Owen in good form the home team were restricted to 2-0 at half time. They added another before Rolfe’s strike lifted visiting spirits and Kidlington briefly threatened a comeback. A penalty award soon afterwards, however, gave Didcot the opportunity to restore their three goal advantage. They duly took it - stopping the Kidlington comeback in its tracks - and were largely untroubled thereafter in cruising to victory.
