Milos Raonic and Pablo Carreno Busta progressed in the only third-round matches completed on a rain-hit day at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Raonic defeated fellow Canadian Denis Shapovalov, overcoming a first-set tiebreak to take it 7-6 (8/6), before taking an early second-set lead at 3-0.

Shapovalov, however, clawed his way back into the match, levelling the score at 4-4 but lost his serve in the final game to hand Raonic the second set 6-4, and with it, the match.

Spain’s Carreno Busta made quick work of his match against Robin Haase, beating the Dutch player 6-4 6-2 in little over an hour on court.

Juan Martin del Potro completed his weather-delayed second-round match against Hyeon Chung, racing to a 6-2 6-3 victory before the storm clouds gathered once again.

He will now face Nick Kyrgios on Friday, while Novak Djokovic will finish his third-round match against Grigor Dimitrov after the weather forced play to be called off with the former world number one fighting back from a set down and holding a 2-6 6-3 2-1 lead.

Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, Roger Federer and Kevin Anderson will also all take to the court on Friday for their delayed third-round matches.
