Oxford City Stars face a weekend double-header which could put them right in the mix at the top of the table.

They travel to Cardiff today, before entertaining Coventry tomorrow.

Although they lie fifth, they are level on points with the third-placed team, and know that two wins will lift them into contention.

Coach Darryl Morvan admitted: "We start 2008 with two very tough fixtures, where good results in both are vital to our continuing a challenge for a play-off spot.

"To face Coventry less than 24 hours after what is sure to be a tough game in Cardiff will definitely test the mettle of the team.

"On the plus side, we should field a full-strength team for both fixtures, and all the players have shown in training this week that they are eager to get back into action following the festive break.

"Practice was very high-intensity and it was obvious that although they had not been on the ice for two weeks, the players had been working hard off it to maintain their fitness and to prepare for this weekend."
